With more than 30 years of appellate experience, Misti Zaruches Barnett provides clients with appellate, legal writing, research, and litigation-support services in state and federal courts.
She earned her juris doctor from Brooklyn Law School and graduated cum laude from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Albany. Ms. Barnett began her career in Florida with trial and appellate clerkships, serving a 12-year appellate clerkship as Career Staff Attorney for the late Honorable George A. Shahood of the Fourth District Court of Appeal.
After her clerkships, Ms. Barnett moved to private practice, working in a boutique commercial firm in West Palm Beach and in the appellate/litigation support group of a top Fort Lauderdale personal injury, defense, and civil rights law firm. Ms. Barnett joined Alexander Appellate Law P.A. in 2023.
Ms. Barnett is admitted to practice in Florida, New York and Connecticut, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeal. She sat on The Florida Bar Journal/News Editorial Board for six years, serving as both its Chair and Vice-Chair during that time.
