Michael J. Ellis is an Appellate Attorney with Alexander Appellate Law P.A. His practice focuses on providing appellate and trial support to plaintiffs in general liability cases. He is passionate about employment disputes and commercial litigation, but his experience extends to every type of appeal.
Michael is an accomplished writer and a tenacious advocate. Before law school, he worked for the Florida House of Representatives as an Editor & Writer. While attending FIU College of Law in Miami and serving as President of FIU Law’s Moot Court Team, Michael—and his excellent teammates—earned brief-writing awards in every competition and championed multiple competitions outright. He also earned the highest grade in FIU Law’s most advanced legal writing course. As a law student, he worked for three judges at the Third District Court of Appeal: the Honorable Kevin Emas, the Honorable Bronwyn C. Miller, and the Honorable Norma S. Lindsey. After graduating with honors from FIU Law, he clerked for Judge Lindsey and continued honing his appellate skillset.
Since entering private practice, Michael’s practice has been twofold: (1) drafting appellate briefs, and (2) drafting dispositive motions as trial-support counsel. His experience working as embedded appellate counsel for one of America’s largest defense firms provides him unique insight into identifying and crafting winning legal arguments—at both the trial and appellate level.
