Samuel Alexander Becomes Board Certified in Appellate Practice by The Florida Bar
On June 1, 2024, Samuel Alexander became Board Certified in Appellate Practice by The Florida Bar. Appellate board certification is the Bar’s highest professional evaluation. It "recognizes attorneys’ special knowledge, skills and proficiency in [appellate] law,” as well as their “professionalism and ethics in practice.”
Mr. Alexander had to meet numerous certification requirements, including years practiced, briefs filed, and oral arguments given. He underwent a rigorous peer review and took a six-hour exam that covered almost all areas of appellate practice. Two figures illustrate the difficulty of the achievement: of the 100,000-plus attorneys in Florida, less than 220 are board certified in appellate practice.
Having achieved board certification, Mr. Alexander is permitted to refer to himself as an “expert” and a “specialist” in appellate practice.
Mr. Alexander began his appellate career as a law clerk at the Fifth District Court of Appeal, where he assisted judges in ruling on almost 100 appeals. He founded Alexander Appellate Law P.A. in 2019. The firm now comprises other former appellate clerks and a former judge of the Fifth District Court of Appeal.
