Federal Appeals

Most federal appeals are taken from final orders issued by federal trial courts. For example, people or businesses often appeal final summary judgments, final rulings after non-jury trials, jury verdicts, or dismissals with prejudice. Federal appeals commonly arise from high-value business and insurance disputes, business torts, statutory claims, civil rights violations, and criminal sentences.

Alexander Appellate Law P.A. handles federal appeals that go to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, which governs appeals from the district courts of Florida, Georgia, and Alabama.

The U.S. Court of Appeal is generally a litigant’s last chance to overturn the decision of a trial court, and appeals are highly technical. If you are considering a federal appeal, or find yourself having to defend against one, you should consult with an appellate attorney. As former employees of appellate courts, no one knows the ins and outs of the appellate process better than our appellate attorneys: the procedure, the law, how to write and research winning briefs, and how to best present your case to an appellate court. It’s what we do.
